NSSGA Young Leaders Meeting Features Mark S. Walsh Award

The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association’s 2018 Young Leaders (YL) Annual Meeting, held April 25-28 at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif., was a great success with more than 200 people in attendance. The meeting helped attendees improve professional and personal skills through development sessions, networking opportunities, and community service and teambuilding projects.

Cemex announced that consolidated net sales increased by 8 percent during the first quarter of 2018 to $3.4 billion versus the comparable period in 2017.

LafargeHolcim announced a partnership with the U.S. Army’s Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS) program to provide opportunities to veterans in the American workforce after their service. Great Lakes To Reap Benefits From Coast Guard Authorization Act

Protection of the environment and promotion of waterborne commerce will be well served by Senate passage of the Coast Guard Authorization Act. The bill, S.1129, includes provisions that will protect the Great Lakes from oil spills and non-native species and facilitate shipping of products such as cement and aggregate during the ice season.
