AEM'S 'Start With Infrastructure' Campaign Ramps Up

With the turn of the new year, now begins a real opportunity for Congress and President Trump to work together to pass bipartisan solutions on policy issues that matter most That’s why AEM is kicking off a new round of its “Start with Infrastructure” public affairs campaigns. The goal of the campaign is to demonstrate the wide-ranging benefits of infrastructure investment to our nation’s economy. With the campaign’s initial launch last month, AEM President Dennis Slater said, “Our industry’s 1.3 million workers want Washington to start with infrastructure this year. This includes reaching an agreement on a long-term and sustainable funding solution for the Highway Trust Fund. By reclaiming our infrastructure advantage, we will ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods, connectivity between and within rural and urban America, as well as strong economic growth and job creation. Without it, our country risks losing tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity if Republicans and Democrats don’t work together.”

Scooptram Automation Package from Epiroc

Automation solutions from Epiroc save time in your mining operation, are more cost efficient than manual operation, increase safety and raise productivity – all at once.

To minimize environmental impact and keep personnel out of harm's way while production proceeds quickly and smoothly, automation is key. Production and the efficient utilization of machinery can continue even during shift changes and when personnel are not safely permitted in the work area; for example, when the mine has not yet been adequately ventilated or when there is a substantial risk of falling debris after blasting. The operator can make swift transitions from manual to automatic mode to quickly adapt to the situation at hand.

"The Scooptram Automation Regular package allows our customers to automate a single loader without having to spend lots of time and money making extensive infrastructure alterations,” said Clint Byington, business line manager – underground rock excavation for Epiroc U.S.

The automation package includes cameras, sensors and safety modules that are mounted onto the Scooptram as well as a safety system that can be easily installed in the mine. If a person or another machine should enter the Scooptram's work vicinity while the safety system is enabled, the Scooptram will automatically shut down to avoid causing potential harm.

"Productivity and workers' well-being go hand in hand," Byington said. "An automated loader from Epiroc works to protect both."
